Sick Leave Accrual
Full-time employees: Accrue 40 hours of sick leave per year (1.54 hours per pay period)
Part-time employees: Accrue sick leave on a prorated basis
When You Can Use Sick Leave
Use sick leave when you are:
- Ill or injured
- Caring for an ill family member (spouse, child, parent)
- Attending medical, dental, or vision appointments
- Dealing with domestic violence or sexual assault situations
How to Call In Sick
If you are too sick to work:
Step 1: Call your supervisor at least 2 hours before your shift starts (or as soon as possible for emergencies)
Step 2: Provide expected return date
Step 3: Submit sick leave request in DayForce when you return to work
Documentation Required
1-3 days: No doctor's note required
4+ consecutive days: Medical documentation required from healthcare provider
Sick Leave During Peak Season
Sick leave is available during peak season (November - December). If you are sick, call your supervisor. Your health and safety come first.
Unused Sick Leave
Unused sick leave rolls over year to year up to 80 hours maximum. Sick leave does not pay out when you leave OnTrac.
Sick Leave vs PTO
Sick leave is separate from PTO. Use sick leave for illness or medical appointments. Use PTO for vacation and personal time.
Family and Medical Leave
If you need extended time off for a serious health condition, you may qualify for FMLA. Contact HR through AskHR for information.
